Getting Started

You can start lessons at 17 years old. You'll need a provisional driving licence before you get in the car — you can apply for one up to 3 months before your 17th birthday.

Yes — your instructor must see your provisional licence before you drive on public roads. Apply at gov.uk. It takes about a week to arrive.

It varies by person, but the DVSA average is around 45 hours of professional lessons. Way2Go learners typically reach test standard 15% sooner than average, because our structured lesson plans build skills progressively. Your instructor will keep you updated on your progress throughout.

Lessons & Pricing

Lessons start from £37/hour. Prices vary slightly by location and instructor. Contact us or find an instructor to get the exact rate for your area.

Yes — intensive or semi-intensive courses are available depending on your instructor's availability. Speak to your instructor or contact us to arrange this.

We ask for at least 48 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Late cancellations may be charged at your instructor's discretion. Your instructor will outline their policy at the start.

Your Instructor

Yes. Every instructor on the Way2Go network is a fully qualified Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) registered with the DVSA. We do not accept unqualified or trainee-only instructors.

Yes — use our Find an Instructor page to search by postcode and choose someone who suits you. If you've been recommended a specific instructor, you can sign up directly linked to them.

The Test

No — you can start lessons without passing your theory test, but you must pass the theory test before you can book your practical driving test.

Yes — your instructor will accompany you to your test and give you a lesson beforehand to settle your nerves. Use of their car for the test may be included or charged separately; confirm this with your instructor.
